The lawyer your team calls first

Most growing companies do not have a legal problem. They have forty small legal questions a month and nobody to ask, so the questions get answered by whoever is closest: the controller, the sales lead, the HR manager, or nobody. Outside general counsel fixes that. You get one lawyer who knows the business, and every question has somewhere to go.

What it covers

  • Contracts. Customer, vendor, supplier, and partner agreements: review, negotiation, and the call on which terms are worth the fight.

  • Corporate housekeeping. Entity filings, signing authority, resolutions, and the records that need to exist before someone asks for them.

  • Employment and HR. Hiring, terminations, severance, policies, and the manager question that cannot wait until next week.

  • Disputes. The unpaid invoice, the customer who will not perform, the demand letter that just arrived. Handled early, before it is a lawsuit.

  • Judgment calls. Whether a matter needs a specialist, what it should cost, and which outside counsel to use. I manage them so you do not have to.

Who this is for

Companies with a few dozen to a few hundred employees, founder-led or sponsor-backed, that are past the point where the CEO can handle legal on the side and not yet at the point of a full-time hire. It also works for companies that have one in-house lawyer who needs a second set of hands.

How it works

A monthly retainer sized to your volume, with a direct line and a response the same day. I learn the business in the first month: how you make money, who signs what, where the risk actually is. After that, most questions get answered in a phone call, and the ones that need more get a written recommendation you can read once and act on.

What I bring to it

Thirteen years in-house, including two as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. I have been the only lawyer in the room, and I have run a legal function with a team. I know what a business needs from its lawyer because I have been the one receiving the call.
